Get Creative - let your voice be heard!

Many people make the mistake of thinking that arthritis is just a disease of the elderly. The Arthritis Society is reaching out to educate Canadians about the realities of living with juvenile arthritis (JA).

The Arthritis Society invites youth (ages 12-19) from across Canada to share their stories about living with juvenile arthritis (JA) on YouTube. The video should be under three minutes long, and about your experience living with JA. Tell us what’s it like? How do you feel? How can others help? The contest can be entered anytime between March 1 - April 5, 2012

Contestants will be asked to submit their videos to www.youtube.com/childrensarthritis or www.youtube.com/arthritejuvenile.

About one in 1,000 Canadian children, under the age of sixteen, have JA, which makes it one of the most common disorders that causes chronic disability in children and adolescents in Canada. While there is no cure for JA, an early diagnosis and effective treatment plan –medication, physiotherapy, physical activity and rest –controls pain and helps to prevent permanent joint damage. With the guidance of a health-care team and the support of family members, a child with arthritis can lead an active and productive life.

The Arthritis Society will award the top three videos the following prizes:

First prize: $1000

Second prize: $500

Third prize: $250

The contest judges will choose the winners based on the following:
